Quadripartite Consultative Meeting Brings Together Rayahin Organization, IOM, Anbar Extension Center, and College of Agriculture Consultative Center on Climate Adaptation and Sustainable Natural Resource Management

A consultative meeting was held bringing together four parties: Riyaeen Organization for Agricultural Development, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Extension Center in Anbar Governorate, and the Consultative Center of the College of Agriculture, to discuss developing practical solutions for farmers to confront the effects of climate change and water scarcity, implementing agricultural projects and innovations within the Extension Center and its affiliated farms, and leveraging academic and consultative expertise to support field extension work.

To discuss the environmental and climate challenges facing the agricultural sector in Anbar Governorate, and to establish a joint cooperation framework for the future.

The meeting addressed several key axes:

  • Climate Change Adaptation: Discussing scientific and field solutions to help farmers adapt to changing climatic conditions and rising temperatures.
  • Sustainable Management of Natural Resources: Reviewing ways to rationalize water consumption, improve soil management, and preserve biodiversity.
  • Implementation of Projects and Innovations: Exploring the possibility of launching pilot projects applicable within the Extension Center and its affiliated extension farms.
  • Promoting Sustainable Agricultural Development: Supporting the transition towards sustainable agriculture in Anbar Governorate.
  • Leveraging Academic and Consultative Expertise: Utilizing the research and consultative cadres at the College of Agriculture's Consultative Center to develop field extension work and provide practical solutions for farmers.
  • Role of the International Organization for Migration (IOM): Supporting projects aimed at enhancing sustainable livelihoods for communities affected by displacement and climate change, and providing the necessary resources to implement field projects.

The meeting aims to lay the foundations for an effective partnership that empowers farmers and equips them with the necessary tools and knowledge to adapt to a changing reality, through direct field extension support and modern agricultural techniques that reduce losses and increase productivity.
